Timber Actually. The Story.

Upcycling wood from Singapore, for Singapore

Who we are

Timber Actually

Timber Actually

We love wood. Even more so, we love tapping on the potential of Singapore-sourced wood.

Our goal is to create sustainable, upcycled products from the finest local gems like angsana and tembusu. These heritage trees produce exquisite furniture-grade wood once processed.

We cut out the middleman and process all our logs at our local plant. This way, you’re sure to get premium-quality goods at a fraction of the price.

To Singapore, with love

To Singapore, with love

Did you know that our Singapore streets are lined with gorgeous trees like the African mahogany and raintree? Don’t let the names fool you.

Once they’re felled, we take them and breathe new life into them, crafting premium wood furniture that’ll look good just about anywhere.

Timber Actually is passionate about all the amazing trees we find in our backyard. We hope to share their beauty with you, one design at a time.

What we do

We gather logs

Trees are usually felled to make way for urban development, or to keep our roads safe from those at risk of falling naturally. We gather these logs and store them in our yard.

We process logs

When it’s time to process the logs, we cut them into regular sizes, then stack them up for air or kiln drying. Once enough moisture is removed, the wood planks and boards are ready for use!

We turn logs into art

Here’s where we get creative. We take our processed material and turn them into solid wooden tables, shelves and seats. If you have an idea you’d like to bring to life, we take on bespoke projects as well!

How our wood is processed

For all you curious ones, here’s how wood is
typically processed at our factory!

1. Debarking and cutting

We remove the bark from the logs and cut them into fixed sizes at the sawmill.

2. Either air-dried

We stack the lumber in a specific way that promotes efficient air circulation.

3. Or kiln-dried

We can do this in a kiln too for faster drying; removing sufficient moisture ensures the wood is strong and durable.

4. Final touches

We may varnish, sand smooth or treat the wood for fire or rot resistance – whatever the final product needs!

5. Ready for woodworking

Here’s when the wood is ready to be worked into fine products for you – the hobbyists, DIY-ers, homeowners and fellow wood enthusiasts that love our work!
