Frequently Asked Questions

How to install floating shelves?

If you are planning to install floating wall shelves on your own at home, here are the steps:

Step 1: Mark the position of the floating shelf Place a shelf against the wall at the desired position, making sure that it is level. Draw a line under it using a pencil. Next, remove the shelf and mark the holes for the screws. You may want to use a tape measure to ensure that the holes are evenly spaced.

Step 2: Select the wall anchors To determine the type of wall anchor to use, it is important to identify if your wall is made from cement/concrete or drywall. Simply knock on the wall with your fist — a hollow sound will indicate that it is drywall. For cement/concrete walls, you may use plastic conical screw or lead hollow wall anchors. For drywall, it is recommended to use butterfly or toggle anchors. It is important to choose anchors with the same diameters as the screws, and they should ideally be 2.5cm to 3.8cm long.

Step 3: Drill holes in the wall Next, drill holes for the anchors based on the marked positions on the wall. You will want to use a drill bit with the same diameter as the anchor.

Step 4: Insert the anchors Once the holes have been made, insert the anchors accordingly.

Step 5: Attach the bracket and shelf Align the shelf bracket against the holes and screw into the anchors to secure it. Finally, slide the floating shelf onto the bracket.

How much does it cost to customise a floating wood shelf?

The cost varies depending on the type of furniture wood, and the thickness, width, length and finish of each plank. Customisations to the size will tend to incur an additional cost.
